Flying J and Kodak

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Flying J Truck Stops have installed Kodak i1210s to help drivers stay on top of their paperwork.

Kodak’s Scanners will improve the scanning and processing effectiveness of 100 billing services kiosks at Flying J Truck Stops across North America. The Scan & Go Express kiosks quickly digitize bills, proofs of delivery and other related forms for immediate use in the billing process.

At present, Flying J customers are scanning upwards of 25,000 images per week. To enhance the kiosks’ document handling capabilities they will begin using high-performance KODAK i1210 Scanners, upgrading from basic flatbed scanners.

“Our kiosks significantly improve the billing process for millions of drivers across North America,” said Josh Cochran, Marketing Manager, Flying J. “The quality and performance of the KODAK i1210 Scanner expedites our role in streamlining revenue flow across the billion-dollar trucking industry.”

The i1210 scanners will increase efficiency by providing faster processing speeds and enhanced imaging accuracy. Kodak’s Perfect Page Imaging Technology and Sure Path paper transport allows users to capture information from documents, regardless of their condition. These features enhance images and minimize jams created by wrinkled papers.

The Internet-connected Scan & Go Express kiosks also include a touch screen allowing truckers to easily scan and send information to various destinations. With an electronic-based system, companies can complete billing on the same day as deliveries—reducing operating costs associated with payroll, express shipping and administrative support.

“Flying J’s scanning kiosks demonstrate the positive impact of solutions that automate paper driven applications,” said Russell Hunt, Regional Business Manager, United States and Canada, Document Imaging, Business Services and Solutions Group, Eastman Kodak Company. “These systems provide a basic model for other growing industries looking for ways to reduce paperwork and optimize their business processes.”
