AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management) has produced a State of the ECM Industry 2010 report, which indicates that there is still chaos and disorganization in the management of content within enterprises. However, there has also been much improvement over last year, and many companies and organizations are seeing the benefit of Enterprise Content Management.

Research revealed that in the last year alone, 12% of organizations have deployed some form of ECM system, and another 28% are in the midst of doing the same.

Flying J and Kodak

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Flying J Truck Stops have installed Kodak i1210s to help drivers stay on top of their paperwork.

Kodak’s Scanners will improve the scanning and processing effectiveness of 100 billing services kiosks at Flying J Truck Stops across North America. The Scan & Go Express kiosks quickly digitize bills, proofs of delivery and other related forms for immediate use in the billing process.

At present, Flying J customers are scanning upwards of 25,000 images per week. To enhance the kiosks’ document handling capabilities they will begin using high-performance KODAK i1210 Scanners, upgrading from basic flatbed scanners.

“Our kiosks significantly improve the billing process for millions of drivers across North America,” said Josh Cochran, Marketing Manager, Flying J. “The quality and performance of the KODAK i1210 Scanner expedites our role in streamlining revenue flow across the billion-dollar trucking industry.”

The i1210 scanners will increase efficiency by providing faster processing speeds and enhanced imaging accuracy. Kodak’s Perfect Page Imaging Technology and Sure Path paper transport allows users to capture information from documents, regardless of their condition. These features enhance images and minimize jams created by wrinkled papers.

The Internet-connected Scan & Go Express kiosks also include a touch screen allowing truckers to easily scan and send information to various destinations. With an electronic-based system, companies can complete billing on the same day as deliveries—reducing operating costs associated with payroll, express shipping and administrative support.

“Flying J’s scanning kiosks demonstrate the positive impact of solutions that automate paper driven applications,” said Russell Hunt, Regional Business Manager, United States and Canada, Document Imaging, Business Services and Solutions Group, Eastman Kodak Company. “These systems provide a basic model for other growing industries looking for ways to reduce paperwork and optimize their business processes.”

KODAK Products are backed by KODAK Service and Support. KODAK Service and Support is made up of more than 3,000 professionals reaching more than 120 countries. METRO creates new records management policy

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

The METRO board of directors has decided to create a new records management policy as it faces a lawsuit over document shredding.

The board Tuesday passed a resolution which calls for the creation of an active and continuing record management program by a records management officer. The law requires METRO to retain all documents in electronic or paper form. METRO admitted destroying records requested by attorney Lloyd Kelley. “It’s a matter of really making sure that its followed through every level of the organization by every employee at METRO and I think that’s what were gonna want a briefing on is what are doing to make sure every METRO employee is aware of their obligations,” said Christof Spieler, METRO Board Of Directors.

Kelley claimed METRO destroyed documents to cover up a romantic affair between METRO’s former CEO and his chief of staff.

If your company doesn’t already have one, should you establish a records management program? E-BizDocs has the knowledge to help your company develop an electronic workflow and manage your records more efficiently. And if any documents need to be retrieved, for legal, operational, or other reasons, we can make sure that you find them.
